More about Nexpa and Caleta de Campos
Our closest pueblo, Caleta de Campos (10 minutes drive), has a beautiful protected sand bottom bay with good swimming and great sea food restaurants during the daytime. At night the taco stands in Caleta are a nice taste of Mexico. Caleta has food shopping, internet, telephones, doctors, pharmacies, laundry service, and hardware stores and the people are very friendly.
Here in Nexpa there are five restaurants with a variety of international and Mexican cuisine as well as 2 local stores with basic food items, snacks, beer, wine, liquor, etc. Boards are available for rent or for sale at the local shop / store along with internet and phone service, wax, T shirts etc., and there is always a ding repairman for when you need it.
Our closest international airport is Ixtapa / Zihuatenjo which is about a two and a half hour drive from Nexpa. It has rental cars and taxi service available. Best to book car rentals from the US in advance. Taxis run about $150 to $200 USD one way to Nexpa. Bus fare is inexpensive but involves more time and patience, (taxi from the airport to the bus station, bus to Lazaro Cardenas, change buses to continue on to Caleta de Campos, then taxi to Nexpa, five or six hours trip time). Private transport directly to our place is available for our guests only for $150 USD one way. Advance notice required, maximum 5 people.
There are no banks or ATM machines in our area, the closest is in Lazaro Cardenas which is an hour away from Nexpa, so come prepared. There are ATM machines at the airport. We accept dollars, pesos, euro, travelers checks or bank deposits only. US dollars are accepted and welcome everywhere here in Nexpa at the normal business rate.
